MUSIC VIDEO remake planning

We need to start by agreeing on an executive producer who will take a lead in ensuring everyone carries out their tasks, gathering copies of paper planning, checking locations availability, costume/props etc, supported and listened to by everyone in the class.

4 LOCATIONS, 4 PLANS
Next, split into 3 trios and one duo, each with responsibility for planning the shoot in 1 of the locations. The complexity of shoots in each location varies, so the duo should tackle the least complicated shoot.

Each mini-team can look at the tasks below and split them up.

TASK 1: SCREENSHOT EACH DIFFERENT SHOT
As you do this, add a brief but clear and precise description of action/movement into a Word doc. Start each description with two details: the start time and shot number (starting at 1 for your section), and include any lyric, eg:
9 017 Slight LA worms eye view from back of class; only teacher at front in focus; cam between 2 rows of desks; MCU on feet/legs (roughly to knee height). After 1sec, bags are grabbed up. [NO LYRIC]
TASK 2: MISE-EN-SCENE
Detail the mise-en-scene you will try to replicate:
  • characters, with description of...
  • costume,
  • props,
  • key movements, especially dance moves
TASK 3: USE SHOT LIST TO LIST SHOTS REQUIRED
Many shots are used twice or more: cut away from a shot and return to it.
To plan a video we need to be clear on the shots we want, then we can plan a logical shooting order.
Copy/pasting from your earlier work, now list (with details) the actual shots you need to film.

TASK 4: DECIDE ON SHOOTING ORDER
Think carefully about how you can most quickly reset cast and camera for the next shot, and create a call sheet: a list of shots in the order you will shoot them, with any and all detail you (director, cinematographer, producer, cast) will need to avoid having to constantly replay the video.

TASK 5: TIMED LYRIC SHEET
Once some have finsihed their contribution, 2 can combine to create a key planning document for a video, a table with track timings and descriptions of lyrics or instrumental sections. I will help those working on this

TASK 6: FINAL CALL SHEET
Agree a shooting order, using scheduled Media lessons/lunchtimes, one location at a time. Add details of who will shoot each shot (camera operator), and the director for each location. Check that everyone is Britney for at least one line where they lipsynch. You can try and get staff or students to also appear.

TASK 7: FINAL SCHEDULE
Check you've organised all cast, costume, props; locations organised with permissions/room bookings; a clear schedule for shooting.
